The original Orient Express.

Greetings ~

This scale model kit was made in 1984 by Revell of Germany. Back in the late 1990's, I had a hobby shop in downtown Akron, Ohio. One of the lines of merchandise that I sold was model kits. I also bought old kits from people who would find them in attics, basements, etc. They would bring in large boxes of kits. There might be 3 or sometimes 20 kits in the box. I would buy them and then later on, I would go through and check them out for resale.

Some of the kits may have a few pieces missing, some didn't have the decal or instruction sheets and some may have been started and even painted. But many of my customers didn't care. They were adult modelers and really wanted the old, out of production kits.

Another hobby shop at the time was closing down and had a bunch of kits left over. I bought them all. One of them was this HO scale model kit of the famous train, The Orient Express.

The kit originally sold for $30. I decided to keep it myself. After about a year, I started it but only got some of the painting done and put it away again. I've had it in storage for 21-years now.

I decided to get it out and build it. We're right in the middle of the Coronavirus and, since I'm pushing 70, I'm not supposed to go out. I have been stuck in the house for over a week and they say to stay here for, at least, a month. So, this is a good time to build this model.

This blog will highlight the progress of the build. I'll be posting pictures and comments of the process as I go. So, if you ever get a chance to build one of these kits, maybe this blog might help you out.

NOTE ~

This blog is all about building this model kit. The first section shows the kit being built. The second section shows the detailed instruction sheets and the third section is an historic photo gallery of the original train.

So, if you have this kit but the instructions are missing, no problem! They are here in section-2.
